About Me

Welcome! My name is Kate Swartz and I am a professional portrait photographer located in Stuttgart Germany. I specialize in Newborn, Children, Maternity, and Family portraits. I obtained my Bachelor of Fine Arts degree (concentration in photography) from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. Prior to my education, I grew up a child in the military and lived all over the world as a result of my family's travels. My interest in photography started after my family lost nearly everything we owned in 2005 during Hurricane Katrina on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. After the cleanup, we were subsequently moved to Lakenheath, England by the Air Force. My Dad had just purchased a new DSLR camera that I picked up and just started shooting with. It's been love ever since!

I met my husband while we were both attending Mississippi State University (MSU). There, I primarily photographed sporting events for the university paper and the club hockey team. While at MSU, my husband became an officer in the United States Marine Corps which took us to Virginia, California, and back to Virginia. I worked as a Newborn Photographer in the Mary Washington Hospitals around Fredericksburg, VA in 2011, and I had also worked as a photographer and manager for a portrait studio. I did this until my daughter was born in November 2013. Shortly after, I opened my own studio in April 2016.

We have two small children Karaline and Noah . I love capturing the moments between them and I certainly hope to capture special moments for all of you, as well.
